      'Bedouin Arrangements Must be Dealt with Thoroughly'


      As expected, the cabinet approved, Sunday, the transfer of the issue of regulating Bedouin communities and economic development in the Negev from the Prime Minister's Office to Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Ya'ir Shamir. Shamir and his ministry's executive director, Rami Cohen, will work with a staff that is being transferred from the Prime Minister's Office.

      Shamir reacted by saying, "The complex reality on the ground requires comprehensive and thorough action that will lead to the development of the Negev and its renewal. We will continue the legislative process with the intention to reach broad agreement in the Knesset factions while communicating with the Bedouin."
