Deputy Chairman Fathi Al-Sheikh Khalil of the Palestinian Authority (PA) energy authority said, Thursday, that he has received encouraging information that Israel has agreed to supply 100 additional megawatts to Gaza. Interviewed by the Saudi Press Agency, he said there would be a discussion in the next two weeks about funding for the move.
Israel currently supplies the Hamas-ruled area with 120 megawatts, with Egypt supplying an additional 27. Gaza goes six hours with power, followed by 12 hours without. Qatar recently pledged to transfer 10 million dollars a month to pay the PA tax on industrial fuel to supply the Gaza power plant, which recently went up.
