Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat presented Wednesday morning to the Knesset Finance Committee estimates of the damage suffered by the capital of Israel during the recent snowstorm. Jerusalem suffered some of the heaviest damage in the country, estimated at 290 million dollars.
Barkat told the committee that the municipality expects the government to indemnify the economic and infrastructural damage of 290 million. "The city of Jerusalem endured a mini-tsunami," said Barkat,"which caused immense damage to the Municipality. I expect the government get involved so they can provide a substantial financial incentive which will return the city to its state before the storm and to make sure that the damage does not fall on the shoulders of the residents, which would double the suffering".
