      Shekel, Yen Down; Euro Outpaces Pound - US Dollar Same

      The official value of the shekel declined an average of .24 percent, Friday, against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.492, unchanged from Thursday's rate, while the Euro rose .74 percent to 4.8174 shekels.

      The pound sterling was set at 5.7573 shekels, up .65 percent, while 100 Japanese yen slipped .036 percent to NIS 3.3313. The Australian dollar advanced .325 percent to NIS 3.1135, while its Canadian counterpart was fixed at 3.2807 shekels, down .128 percent, and the South African rand fell .474 percent to .3356 shekels.
