Beirut Blast a Car Bomb that Killed Former Treasurer

Former Lebanese Finance Minister Mohammad Shatah was one of five confirmed fatalities, Friday morning, in the explosion of a car-bomb in downtown Beirut. Shatah was a close advisor of Future party leader Sa'id Hariri, whose father was murdered in a car-bombing.

At least 15 people were wounded in the blast between the Starco Building and the Monroe Hotel, according to the Daily Star, which said the attack coincided with a March 14th Coalition meeting scheduled for Hariri's residence. Recent violence in Lebanon has centered around the Hezbollah terror group's involved in the civil war in neighboring Syria.
