David Elhayani, head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council defended his land amid the ongoing talks with the Palestinian Authority. The area in question straddles the regions of Yehuda (Judea) and Shomron (Samaria), which, if the PA obtains its full demands, will be relinquished in entirety for the creation of a Palestinian State. Speaking to Arutz Sheva news on Wednesday, Elhayani said he sought to "remove the question marks about the future of the Jordan Valley. The Israeli public will not vote on any referendum without Jordan Valley remaining under Israeli sovereignty." He added that the he hoped the United States State Department which has been pushing the talk, understood that most Israelis did not favor making the Jordan Valley the new border.
