Rabbi of Kiryat Arba, Rabbi Dov Lior, attended an evening rabbinical conference in Har Nof, Jerusalem, organized as an act of protest of the Torah world.
Rabbi Lior said that "The Merit of Torah study is what we now have in face of our enemies. We call to all the sectors aiming at separating religion from the state and who know the public is national religious population, do not participate in this move and know that Torah study is our right to our existence, to the Land of Israel and guards against our enemies."
The Rabbi does not criticize the Torah world, "if such a decree upon us we must ask why, in order to make amends. I think this decree upon us indicates that in the Rabbinate there are some things that need repair. Rabbi Lior added, "We do not defend the honor of the Torah or the honor of one scholar or another."
According to Rabbi Lior, "Laws like these have hurt the country as a Jewish state. We should appeal to the Israeli government and protest that they are hurting the people of Israel and Israel's security."
