Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange registered modest gains at the start of Tuesday-morning trading. About half an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,216.58, up .01 percent from Monday's close, while the TA 100 slipped .01 percent to 1,216.42, including a tenth-of-a-percent drop to 1,347.61 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,040.07, up .31 percent.
Leading the sectors was the communications index, which rose .76 percent to 795.51. The insurance issues stood at 1,537.87, up .51 percent, as the financial institutions advanced .23 percent to 1,285.21, reflecting a loss of .09 percent to 1,335.81 by the bank stocks. Most of the technology index stood at 346.76, up .39 percent, while the biomed issues gained .26 percent to 1,024.94. The oil and natural-gas stocks stood at 1,271.15, up .38 percent, and the real-estate index declined .17 percent to 380.40.
