The Supreme Court rejected, Monday, a petition by former Knesset member Michael Ben-Ari and Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir which demanded to try Member of Knesset Hanin Zo'abi for her part in the Mavi Marmara case. Zo'abi was on board the Turkish ship when it tried to break the Gaza naval blockade at the end of May 2010. Nine people were killed after they attacked Israeli commandos who boarded the ship to divert it to an Israeli port.
Following the ruling, the petitioners said, "We are sad that the judges in the majority did not want to look at the material and read the testimony of soldiers about Zo'abi's deeds. In the past, when they petitioned against Rabbi (Meir) Kahane, the High Court looked at all the material but what's right for Kahane is not right for the enemy of Israel who repeatedly gets protection from the court. In light of the minority opinion, we will consider resubmitting the petition.
