Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Monday-morning trading with modest gains. About 40 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,216.62, up .69 percent, while the TA 100 rose .68 percent to 1,216.86, including a gain of .78 percent to 1,349.70 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,031.41, up .81 percent.
Leading the sectors was the communications index, which climbed 1.27 percent to 777.78, while the insurance issues stood at 1,542.90, up .91 percent, as the financial institutions advanced .61 percent to 1,283.76, including a rise of .35 percent to 1,326.03 by the bank stocks. The real-estate index stood at 381.24, up .84 percent, followed by the oil and natural-gas issues, which gained six tenths of a percent. Most of the technology index stood at 344.28, up .58 percent, while the biomed stocks slipped .02 percent to 1,021.65.
