Peres Sends Condolences to Bronfman Family

President Shim'on Peres sent a letter of condolence, Sunday, to the family of former World Jewish Congress president Edgar Bronfman, who passed away Saturday evening at the age of 84. Peres cited Bronfman's work to free Soviet Jewry and other prisoners of Zion, as well as fighting for compensation for Holocaust victims and other causes.

Peres called Bronfman "a champion of Jewish causes and of Israel, doing much for Israel's industry, Jewish education and culture, and with his deep-rooted Zionist spirit and wisdom." He also noted the spirit of philanthropy that Bronfman received from his father and passed to his children.
