Histadrut Protests Management Steps at Port of Ashdod

The Histadrut Labor Federation expressed strong opposition, Friday, to what it called unilateral measures by the management over the last two days at the southern Mediterranean port of Ashdod. The union accused management of stopping work, two members of the workers committee and changing decades-old practices.

The federation issued a statement which said, "The management measures were motivated by irrelevant considerations despite the fact that intensive negotiations are being conducted on the subject of the port of Ashdod. The Histadrut calls on the management of the port to return to sanity and return the work to normal order for the benefit of the harbor's customers, led by the manufacturers in Israel."
