Psychiatric Testing Sought for Man in Tea Attack on MK

A charge of attacking a public servant was filed against a 47-year-old Be'er Sheva' man, Friday, in connection with the throwing of a cup of boiling tea at Member of Knesset Ahmed Tibi (Ra'am-Ta'al-Mada United Arab List), Thursday, during a demonstration against the Prawer Plan regulating Bedouin housing in the Negev. It was also requested that he be held until the end of legal proceedings against him.

The suspect's attorney said that his client was known to welfare authorities and the attack was not racially motivated. A request for psyciatric testing was submitted, based on the family's claim that the suspect is not well.
