Terror-Tunnel Victim Encouraged by Seeing Colors

Lieutenant Ahiya Klein of the Combat Engineering Corps of the Israel Defense Forces, which deals in the disposal of explosives, said, this week, that he is encouraged by the progress his eyes are making since he was wounded in the explosion of a tunnel built by Gaza terrorists into the western Negev about six weeks ago. He said he is sure he will return to his unit, acknowledging he has to clear the hurdle of recovering his eyesight.

In his first interview, to be published fully in the Shabbat supplement of Friday's Yediot Ahronot newspaper, the 22-year-old officer said that when the dressings were first removed from his eyes, he could only detect the ceiling lights in the hospital corridor. He felt improvement when he could see shadows and now he can see colors, saying that the improvements are the thing that encourages him the most.
