121 people were injured and treated by MDA after slipping on the ice on Monday. MDA warns the public to stay indoors until the sunshine warms up the walkways and to avoid attempting to walk or drive on icy surfaces.
According to Tuesday's weather forecast, ice is expected to build up overnight on roads where the snowstorm hit. Snow melt-off coats the road and then freezes overnight, creating a genuine safety hazard.
MDA are on the highest alert in icy areas, thoroughly staffed with ATVs and ambulances equipped with tire chains, to provide the quickest and most efficient response.
