Finance Committee Rejects Security Budget Increase

At the end of a long discussion, the Finance Committee rejected the application of the Finance and Defense Ministries to approve a security budget increase of 2.79 billion NIS.

Committee Chairman MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home) announced that he will not request further discussion, as long as the Treasury does not display alternative sources for security financing other than from social government offices. The application as submitted to the committee, included cuts of hundreds of millions of shekels in welfare budgets, as well as health, education, interior and homeland security (including firefighting system) and more.
