Chairman Yoram Shim'on of the local council in Mevasseret Tzion, west of Jerusalem, called on residents of the city not to leave their homes until 10:00 Monday morning because of the danger of slipping from a sheet of ice covering the area. The council is working with the Israel Defense Forces' Homefront Command to clear the streets of snow and ice. Some traffic arteries are expected to open around 2:00 p.m.
Hundreds of residents were still without power, Monday morning. The council announced, Sunday night, that there would be no school on Monday.
