Rabbi Shim'on Cohen, head of the Torah Ohr Yeshiva in Ashdod, passed away, Sunday morning. He collapsed during morning prayers and rescue personnel were not able to stabilize his condition. Thousands were in attendance as he was laid to rest in the Ashdod cemetery.
Rabbi Cohen was a pioneer of Jewish education in the port city. He had special relationships with Rabbi Babba Meir and the Pittsburgh rebbe, also known as the Ba'al Emunat Avraham.
