Minister Naftali Bennett eulogized General (reserves) Danny Matt, Friday, by saying "That we live well in our country is thanks to a small group of fighters who dedicated their lives to the existence of the state of Israel."
Writing on his Facebook page, the Jewish Home party leader reviewed Matt's career from the time he lied about his age to join the British army in World War II to his leading troops across the Suez Canal during the Yom Kippur War of 1973, citing Matt for being among those who saved Israel by doing so. He concluded by saying, "Danny Matt was always there at the decisive point. He always took responsibility. He always put himself at risk for the people of Israel. The young generations should get to know the achievements and heroism of this generation of fighters, [the generation of] Danny Matt. We will follow in your footsteps."
