Livni: Israel's Security Interests will be Preserved

Echoing remarks by Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States about the importance of Israel's security in negotiations with Iran, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said, Thursday afternoon, that one of the purposes of Kerry's visit to Israel was to establish security arrangements as part of a diplomatic agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Livni, who is leading Israel's negotiating team opposite the PA, said,  "I believe that a political solution is a national, economic and security need, and therefore, in any settlement, we will see to it that our security interests are maintained." She stressed, "We need to shape reality in our favor as we take into account the difficult neighborhood in which we live - the Middle East. It's not easy but necessary, and even possible."
