Member of Knesset Moti Yogev (Jewish Home) expressed his opposition to a bill that would grant same-gender parents the same tax benefits that are granted to traditional parents. "Today, the seventh day of Chanukah, was marked by a small storm related to the continued existence of the human race," wrote MK Yogev on his Facebook page. Quoting Genesis in the Torah, MK Yogev continued, "'male and female He created them... and called their name Adam.' This is a story of human history. Father, mother and children, generations of families... that's nature," he commented. He added that even though he was against added benefits to single gender parents, he feels the government should still have some form of responsibility to assist children " who for one reason or another are growing up outside of the normative family unit. A child is a child," he added.
