      2,000 Mark Hanukkah, New Month at Joseph's Tomb


      More than 2,000 soldiers, Israeli civilians and visitors from abroad observed the sixth evening of Hanukkah and the first evening of Rosh Hodesh, marking the new month of Tevet on the Jewish calendar, at Kever Yoseph, the tomb of biblical Joseph in the Palestinian Authority-assigned Shomron (Samarian) city of Shechem. The evening was organized by the Shomron Regional Council and the Shechem Ehad (One Shechem) society.

      Among those in attendance were many residents of central and northern Israel who were making their first visit to Shomron under the "Shomron - Na'im Lehakir" (Shomron - It's Nice to Meet You) project.
