Marriage Registry Times Changes from 3 Months to 1 Year

On Monday the Rabbinate approved a change in the marriage registration allowing couples to register up to a year in advance. Up until now, couples had 3 months and 45 days prior to the wedding to register. Numerous people noted that the time period may not be enough to gather official documents or allow for unforeseen changes. The Rabbinate is the official rabbinical body in charge of marriages, divorces, burials and other Jewish life cycle events.
