Avishai Ben Haim, a correspondant for Channel 10, this evening (Thursday) revealed a story which has shocked many people.
According to Ben Haim, a Lt.-Col. in the Medical Unit of the Central Command called a company in order to purchase a SIM card to allow her to make calls abroad. During the ensuing conversation, the officer asked the salesperson, "Are you hareidi? (orthodox) I'm allergic to hareidim."
In response, the salesman asked the officer, "Why does it matter to you what I am?" "Because I hate hareidim and I wish they would all die!" the officer answered.
According to the IDF spokesperson, "Statements such as these are in direct opposition to the spirit of the IDF and its values." The spokesperson then said that the matter would be checked into.
