Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat addressed today's (Thursday) incident wherein a two-year-old toddler from the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood in the south of the capital sustained moderate-to-severe injuries at the hands of a rock throwing terrorist. Barkat arrived at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital to speak with the child's family.
"We need to make it perfectly clear that a rock is a weapon, and should be treated as such," Barkat said.
"It is unthinkable that we could arrest someone for throwing stones, who then gets out and goes back to throwing rocks and stones. We should never put up with this, and we need to increase the penalties for this," he added.
The Mayor then said that he would help the government and the police to put a halt to these actions, and to restore the safety of the residents.
