Minister of Agriculture, MK Yair Shamir, attended the candle lighting ceremony for the second night of Hannukah this evening (Thursday) in Hevron, next to Beit Hamakhpela, as a show of support for the residents. "This is our Land," Shamir stated with emphasis.
The ceremony was attended by hundreds of people who called for Prime Minister Netanyahu to uphold his promise to immediately allow the building to be populated. Participants included the Rabbi of Kiryat Arba-Hevron, Rabbi Moshe Levinger, Minister of Agriculture Yair Shamir, Chairman of the Knesset's Land of Israel Lobby, MK Orit Struk, and several other public figures.
"Every generation has its Maccabees, and I am proud to stand with you - the Maccabees of this generation," the Agriculture Minister said, "Hannukah was blessed with miracles, and we are in need of more than a few miracles...we acknowledge your resilience, your amazing faith, especially your willingness to pay the price of that faith."
