Jews who arrived last week to Oldenburg, Germany's Jewish cemetery were shocked to see more than a dozen gravestones desecrated by swastikas and other anti-Semitic grafitti.
Local residents and passers-by turned to the Jewish community after discerning that the entire funeral home within the cemetery had been covered. Jewish community leaders arrived at the cemetery to discover to their shock and dismay the extent of the damage, which had left the cemetery in critical condition.
The incident was immediately reported to the police, who located the 32-year-old culprit within an hour, after he was spotted spray-painting more anti-Semitic grafitti elsewhere in the city.
The perpetrator was placed under arrest.
