Slovakia, Israel Sign Cooperation Agreement for Culture, Education

Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin met this afternoon (Monday) with his Slovakian counterpart.  During the meeting the two discussed a wide range of matters, including the agreement that was recently signed in Geneva, the political negotiations between Israel and the PA, and some of the guidelines of the European Union.

The Slovakian deputy minister expressed his country's support of Israel, as well as the regret that political issues have prevented even more fruitful cooperation between Israel and Europe with regards to areas such as science and technology.

During the meeting the two men signed an agreement which will focus on the implementation co-operative efforts between the two countries in the fields of education and the arts, such as Holocaust education, cooperation between the universities, student exchange programs, scholarships, as well as working together in the fields of cinema and literature.
