C'tee OKs Longer Paid Maternity Leave if Baby Admitted

The Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved unanimously for second and third reading, Monday, a bill extending paid maternity leave for the mother of a baby who is hospitalized up to 20 weeks. Currently the limit is 10 weeks.

The law will go into effect as soon as it is published. It will cost an estimated 375,000 shekels a year, according to economists for the Knesset and the Bituach Le'umi National Insurance Institute.
