Livni: Public, Knesset Majority for Political Pact

Chairwoman Tzipi Livni of the Hatenua' Party said, Monday, that a new alliance is needed for reaching a diplomatic agreement with the Palestinian Authority. Addressing the weekly meeting of the party's Knesset faction, she said, "Once we get to the critical point , there's a huge majority of the public in the state of Israel and the Israeli Knesset that will support [an agreement]."

Livni repeated remarks she made earlier at a meeting of the Lobby for the Solution of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and the Israeli-Arab Conflict that the election of Yitzhak Herzog as Labor party leader shows that Labor has chosen not to ignore the diplomatic issue. She said the state is still paying the price of the alliance between Chairmen Ya'ir Lapid and Naftali Bennett of the Yesh Atid and Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) parties.
