Center Left Congratulates Herzog

With 85 percent of the ballots showing challenger Yitzhak Herzog leading incumbent Shelly Yechimovich for the Labor party leadership, the leaders of the center and left parties joined Yechimovich in congratulating Herzog on his victory. Describing Herzog as "committed to the diplomatic process", Hatenua' founder Tzipi Livni called on him to join the coalition, explaining, "The peace process demands real, unconditional support."

Chairwoman Zahava Gal-On of the leftist Meretz party called on Herzog to keep Labor in the opposition. The congratulations of Yesh Atid founder Ya'ir Lapid were purely personal.
