Darren Aronofsky, who is of Jewish-American heritage, is set to release a big budget Biblical epic based on the Noah's Ark events. The new movie, entitled Noah, is set to be released in March of 2014. It stars Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly and other top name Hollywood actors. Aronofsky's frequent collaborator Ari Handel also worked on the script.
Aronofsky's feature debut was the award winning Pi, the story of a Jewish mathematical genius who meets with a hasidic group. Although Judaism is not the basis of the movie's theme, Arnofsky has stated his time spent in a yeshiva in Israel was a partial inspiration.
