Chairman Gershon Mesika of the Shomron (Samaria) Council called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and Central District Commander Nitzan Alon of the Israel Defense Forces, Thursday, to stop the phenomenon of mixed buses in the Shomron in which Arabs from the Palestinian Authority outnumber Jews by a margin of more than ten to one. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva after Wednesday's stabbing death of a soldier by a PA Arab, Mesika said, "It is inconceivable that we should finance transportation for the Palestinians and Jews would be afraid to travel. Once it was not allowed for them to board the bus in the Shomron. We have to return that because the next attack is a matter of time and it will be on their heads."
Referring to Wednesday's stabbing, Mesika said, "I think the lowly attack on the bus in Afula is a painful reminder of what could be here at any given moment. In the transports of the Afikim company, illegal passengers that get on in Petah Tikva and travel to Samaria. Forty-five Palestinians on a bus with a maximum of five Jews. The Jewish passengers feel fear throughout the trip.
