Last week the world's largest kosher food exhibition, 'Kosherfest', attracted more than 7,000 visitors to 369 booths at New Jersey's Meadowlands Exposition Center in Seacaucus.
In the past. kosher food in the U.S. was mostly relegated to religious and hareidi neighborhoods, with many of the products imported from Israel. However, today the tables have turned, and the U.S. is considered a super power in the world of kosher food, with huge companies producing thousands of kosher products.
Kosherfest's origins date back 24 years, when Menachem Lubinsky, a local Jews, organized the first exhibition, which held only 69 booths and reached, perhaps, 900 merchants and business owners. Today, there is no one in the food field who misses the event.
