Jewish Meat Workers and "Shechitah" Defended in Knesset

The Jewish butchering practice of shechitah was defended in a Knesset hearing on alleged animal abuse. Member of Knesset Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) stated, "the attempt to say butchery causes animal abuse is fundamentally wrong." He added that all kosher butchers are trained in stringent ways to prevent cruelty to animals. "The ritual slaughter process is done with maximum sensitivity and in the quickest manner possible in order to prevent cruelty to animals," he said.
