Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the trading week, Thursday, with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,187.93, up .48 percent from Wednesday's close, while the TA 100 rose six tenths of a percent to 1,186.40, including a gain of .42 percent to 1,310.46 for the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,04.79, down 1.81 percent.
Leading the gainers was the insurance index, which climbed 1.4 percent to 1,542.30 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,258.81, up .39 percent, tempered by a slip of .07 percent to 1,276.23 by the bank issues. Most of the technology stocks stood at 326.53, up 1.1 percent, while the biomed index advanced .32 percent to 1,011.27. The real-estate issues stood at 381.52, up .51 percent, right ahead of the oil and natural gas stocks, which rose half a percent to 1,309.51, and the communications index closed at 786.43, up .02 percent.
