Tel Aviv Court Acquits Caregiver in Child's Death

The Tel Aviv Magistrate Court this morning (Thursday) acquitted a caregiver who had been charged in the death of a child through negligence.  The nanny had been accused of putting the child into his bed with a pacifier tied around his neck which strangled the child.

The Court stated it had acquitted the caregiver because, in fact, it had been the child's mother who had put the child to bed with the pacifier, and so the nanny could not have known it.

In addition, Judge Daniel Bari also wrote that this case also demonstrated the sad situation of unregulated and unsupervised immigrant and refugee kindergartens that operate in the south of the city (south Tel Aviv).
