Now that former Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has been acquitted on all charges, commentators are divided on whether justice has prevailed or been denied. Attorney Nadav HaEtzni is one of those lamenting the end to Lieberman's 17-year legal battle to clear his name. In an interview with Arutz Sheva news on Wednesday the well-known columnist stated that Leiberman's more suspicious major monetary discrepancies will now be forgotten.
Such allegations include a relationship with Austrian businessman Martin Schlaff and overseas money transfers. HaEtzni did not fault the judged who unanimously cleared Lieberman on all charges, but the police whom he felt should have conducted a more thorough investigation. Others hailed the acquittal as proof Lieberman committed no crime.
