Yesh Atid Chairman and Minister of Finance Yair Lapid spoke today about the ongoing negotiations between Israel and the PA, saying that the issue of Jerusalem was not on the table, nor was she to be divided. He was also addressing a publicized statement that he had indeed put Jerusalem on the table during the negotiations he is conducting together with Tzipi Livni.
In an interview with Kol Yisrael radio, Mr. Lapid expounded that Jerusalem was the ethos that guided Israel, and that it must never be divided. “If the PA Arabs want their own state, they must know there is a price to pay – they will not get everything they want,” Lapid stated.
The Finance Minister also noted that he believed in the solution of “Two States for Two Peoples”, but that most of the decisions for the evacuation of existing communities, should that impasse be arrived at, would be decided by a vote or national referendum.
