Britain: Even the Dogs Get Retirement Pensions

Police in Nottinghamshire, England have taken steps to ensure a pension to police canines upon their retirement from service in order to help with their veterinary and maintenance costs, according to a report today (Monday) by Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).

The purpose of the monthly payment is to cover dog-related bills, which up until now have been covered by their owners.  The amount of the pension, which is received after the animal's retirement from the force, could reach up to 1,500 pound sterling (approximately NIS 8,400/month).
