Parents in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Pat have been complaining to the Municipality for years about the sandbox sand at the various municipal parks not being changed. The dirty sand is apparently responsible for a whole range of dermatological and respitory complaints that the children have been presenting. The parents aren't alone, for even the kindergarten teachers have put in requests for the sand to be changed.
The parents have turned yet again to the Municipality to ask them to remedy the situation by changing the sand, and to remove other hazardous objects from the park.
According to an interview with Army Radio today, one of the parents explained, "My child came home from the park with a rash and itching. We tried taking care of it with ointments, but to no avail. Ever since that one time he went and played in the sand at the park, he has suffered."
