In the wake of Tuesday night's terrorist release, Dr. Hagai Ben-Artzi spoke out against the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal as setting a bad precedent. Dr. Ben-Artzi, a noted lecturer at Bar Ilan University, is the latest to condemn the release of those convicted of murder as a gesture to the Palestinian Authority. He went one step further by calling the 2011 deal to exchange the kidnapped Shalit for 1,027 "a deal that opened the floodgates." Despite the joy in Shalit's return after five years of being held by Hamas terrorist in Gaza, Dr. Ben-Artzi urged a different approach. "It's time to admit the mistake," he told Arutz Sheva news on Wednesday, "Political and media pressure played on our emotions... and we released despicable killers," he said.
