This past weekend the Israel Antiquities Authority caught a gang of PA Arab relic thieves at the Um Raus ruins, near Moshav Aviezer in the Elah Valley (the site where David and Goliath had their famous encounter).
During the course of the interrogation, the thieves claimed that they had sneaked into Israel to pick wild sage, used by many for its healing properties.
Found in their possession were dozens of bullet casings, as well as pieces of metal and bronze which they had gathered in the area. They were remanded for the second time today by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court. The District Attorney’s Office intends to file for indictment with the Jerusalem District Court within the next few days.
