Governor Rick Perry of Texas visited Israel this week. In an interview published in Friday's edition of the Yisrael Hayom daily, he called on the United States government to take tougher measures against Iran's nuclear development program. Referring to the low-key approach of new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, he said smiles were nice but that he was not the sort of person whom it was easy to confuse.
Perry continued by saying the issue at hand is if the Islamic Republic will become a nuclear power and the answer is absolutely not, calling it a scenario that must not become reality. He said people should not be captivated by Iranian smiles and that it was not enough for the US to continue current sanctions.
