Mayor Nir Barkat of Jerusalem voted, Tuesday morning, at the Ziv Community Center on Herzl Boulevard. Calling on city residents to vote, he said, "Jerusalem will say, today, "Enough deal making!'" Referring to challenger Moshe Leon, he added, "I have no doubt that this evening, some residents will return to [the Tel Aviv suburb of] Giv'atayim."
Leon voted at a precinct on Kaftet November Street. He said, "My feeling is that we're going to a crushing victory." Calling on the public to vote, he added, "This is your significant day."
Also casting ballots were President Shim'on Peres and Deputy Religious-Services Minister Eli Ben-Dahan, both of whom called on the public to vote.
