A ministerial committee today (Sunday) approved of discussing the division of Jerusalem as part of the negotiations with the PA Arabs, but only with a majority of at least 80 Knesset members. Justice Minister, Tzipi Livni, who is heading the negotiations, voted nay, and commented, "The issue of Jerusalem is far too sensitive presently. And so, at this particular time, when we are negotiating with the PA, there is no place for such legislation. Yesh Atid also opposed the proposal, which was introduced by MK Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism). Ministers Uri Ariel, Uri Orbach, Yair Shamir and Sofa Lanver supported the proposal, while Likud abstained.
