Former Central District Commander Gadi Shamni of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Central District warned, Friday, of an increase in terror activity. He called Thursday evening's attempted attack on the Ar-Ram base, north of Jerusalem, a serious incident that marks a possible trend of escalation.
Interviewed by IDF Radio, Shamni said, "This incident constitutes a raising of the level [of attack], with another characteristic of a suicide bomber." He added: "These incidents give inspiration and create an atmosphere of terror, which creates motivation to carry out attacks. There is an accumulation of frustration that produces negative motivation, in addition to already existing daily incitement against Israel in the territories."
