Over the last several weeks, Congressman Doug Lamborn has been requesting Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union, to freeze the economic sanctions against Israel. “Israel has both the legal and moral right to guard the security of her territory,” he said.
According to Lamborn, in an article which was published by the Jerusalem Post, the boycott’s legality, historical accuracy and its very morality are, at best, questionable. He said the sanctions are ineffective at best, and harmful at worst, and that the outcome could deter the PA from ever entering any meaningful negotiations with Israel.
"Why bother entering negotiations with Israel on anything when you can get what you want by going to some outside international body to get what they want?" Lamborn pointed out.
