Chairman Yair Lapid of the Yesh Atid party said, Monday afternoon, that he hopes to pass an "equal burden of service" act that will result in 70 percent of hareidi-religious men doing national service and getting an entire generation of hareidim into the work force. Addressing a meeting of the party's Knesset faction before the start of the parliament's winter session, he said another goal was passage of the change-in-governance law, saying that without the party, the cabinet would not have been reduced.
Responding in his closing remarks to calls to review prisoner releases against the backdrop of recent terror attacks, Lapid said, Don't use every attack to cause a stop to the peace process. It is playing into the hands of the terrorists. That's exactly what they want. That is the goal of terrorists. The policy of the Israeli government will not be determined by Islamic Jihad. We, ourselves, determine our policy."
