Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the trading week, Sunday, with modest losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,167.25, down .55 percent, while the TA 100 declined .59 percent to 1,160.41, the same percentage decrease resulting in a posting of 1,285.16 for the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,114.84, up .16 percent.
The long bright spot among the sectors was the biomed index, which rose .44 percent to 1,044.45, while the rest of the technology issues stood at 331.06, down half a percent. The communications stocks slipped a tenth of a percent, while the bank index lost .44 percent to 1,234.67 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,212.57, down .58 percent, including a drop of 1.05 percent to 1,487.95 by the insurance issues. The oil and natural-gas index stood at 1,289.91, down .94 percent, and the real-estate index fell 1.23 percent to 366.01.
